Gunmen Shot Man Dead In Ekiti
Tragedy struck on Thursday in Ajilosun area of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital a yet to identified man was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Witnesses said the incident occurred at about 6.am along Ado-Ikere highway while the said man, driving in his car was shot.
When journalists visited the scene, the deceased, who was said to be a security agent who was shot in the head and stomach by his assailants was still in the pool of his blood.
His body was later removed by the police from Ologede police station and taken to the morgue of the Ekiti State university teaching hospital, Ado Ekiti.
According to the source: “The deceased was in the car and the vehicle conveying the gunmen hit his car at the back at that spot.
“The deceased then alighted from the car to complain over the reckless driving not knowing they were armed robbers and the daredevil bandits opened fire on him and he died immediately”.
His killers were said to have left the scene on top speed.
Members of National Union of Road Transport workers (NURTW), were said to have deserted the motor park on sighting the lifeless body of the man after reporting for work earlier in the day to prevent being arrested for the crime they knew nothing about.
As of the time of filing this report, residents of the area are still apprehensive that police could make indiscriminate arrests.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, when contacted confirmed the incident.
The PPRO said: “we have got report about the killing and our men have swung into action.
” We are yet to know the identities of the deceased but investigation has begun into the killing “, he stated.
