Mailafia Resigns From NIPSS

Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 general election and former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, has resigned his appointment with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos Plateau State.

He was a directing staff at the NIPSS, a think tank institution in the country.

Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Plateau chapter, who is also Mailafia’s counsel, Yakubu Bawa, confirmed this to newsmen in Jos Tuesday.

Bawa disclosed that Mailafia resigned his appointment last week and that the institute has accepted the resignation.

The resignation may not be unconnected with his brush with the Department of State Services (DSS) over comments he made about the insecurity in the country.

In a radio programme recently, he had said that some ‘repentant’ Boko Haram fighters confided in him that governor of a Northern state was a Boko Haram commander.

This earned him several invitations by the police, the last which he refused to honour, arguing that it was unlawful.
