Pray For Leaders, Peaceful 2019 General Elections, Ajimobi Urges Muslim
The Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has urged the country’s pilgrims to the holy land to pray for sustained peace in the country and the well-being of its leaders at all levels.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, on Monday, the governor also called for prayers for a peaceful and credible general election in 2019.
Similarly, Ajimobi appealed for fervent prayers for the safe return of the pilgrims to the Holy Land as they proceed to Mount Arafat for the crucial hajj rites, climaxing with throwing of pebbles, on Tuesday.
The governor congratulated the Islamic adherents on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha festival, which he said was being celebrated in an atmosphere of peace and cohesion of the country.
Ajimobi commended the people of the state for their understanding and continued support for his administration in its quest to redefine governance and enhance its socio-economic fortunes.
The governor said, “I want to assure the citizenry that this administration will continue to introduce people-friendly policies to enhance the prosperity of the populace and protect lives and property.
“Let me also enjoin our Muslim brothers and sisters to remember those in the Holy Land in their prayers as they proceed to Mount Arafat today (Monday) to have a peaceful and accident-free exercise.
“We should pray for the safe return of those on holy pilgrimage to Mecca, as well as for other Muslims from every part of the world to return home in good health.
“Those proceeding to Arafat today (Monday) should use the opportunity to pray for sustained peace, progress and economic advancement of our dear country. Most importantly, pray for a peaceful and crisis-free 2019 general election.
“I enjoin you to continue to exhibit love towards your fellow human beings and re-dedicate yourselves to the service of Almighty Allah and humanity, as demonstrated by Prophet Muhammed (SAW) during his earthly sojourn.”
Ajimobi admonished motorists and travellers to ensure that their vehicles were in good conditions and to observe basic traffic rules in order to avert carnage on the roads during the holidays.
