Kolawole, who also faulted some remarks against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) about restructuring, urged opposition parties to stop playing politics with national issues .
The lawmaker, who spoke at the weekend while distributing science equipment to all secondary schools in his constituency said that it is high time different composites of the country stopped running to the centre to make things happen in the country.
Kolawole said that there is need for states to start exercising their constitutional powers, adding that that is what restructuring is all about.
While saying the present administration, led by President Mohammadu Buhari, is sincere about the progress of the country, the lawmaker noted that the template currently being used by the government is distinct from that of past administrations.
His words: “APC is sincere about restructuring. There is a need for us to decentralize. There is need for devolution of power. We cannot continue to run to the centre at every point in time to make things happen.
“There is need for state to have some power to operate constitutionally. And to me, that is what restructuring is all about. Decentralisation, devolution of power, local government autonomy .
“I am in full support, and I will say my party, the APC, is sincere about this. I keep saying it, I don’t see why we should be playing politics with everything. If you ask other parties, they will say, we are not sincere about it and that we ought to have done this and that”.
