Lawmaker Beaten To Coma, Others Injured As Fayose, Olujimi Supporters Clash
The lawmaker representing Ekiti East constituency II and a known ally of Fayose, Hon. Dare Pelemo was reportedly beaten to a coma with many others injured in a clash between supporters of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and that of the Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Mrs. Abiodun Olujimi on Sunday evening in Ekiti.
It was reliably gathered from source in the meeting that the incident, which occurred in Kota-Ekiti in Ekiti East Local Government area of the state during the meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which brought the two factions together with the mindset to outsmart each other.
The personalities involved, it was gathered, started displaying overt enmity towards each other shortly after the meeting commenced.
Fayose and Olujimi have been having running battle over the latter’s governorship ambition, which the governor was alleged not to have been favourably disposed to.
Two members of the State House of Assembly, from the area, Adeojo Fajana and Michael Adedeji are presently being investigated over their alleged closeness to Senator Olujimi.
According to the source, Pelemo was seriously beaten up in the process, with his clothing torn to shreds by Olujimi’s angry supporters while those wounded during the clash were said to have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The source at the meeting said, “The meeting ended in disarray as the team loyal to Senator Olujimi and the team loyal to Governor Fayose exchanged fisticuffs. The House of Assembly member representing Ekiti East constituency was beaten, while other members of the team loyal to Governor Fayose ran for their lives.”
When contacted, Pelemo said Olujimi’s group actually attacked him, but said he was never beaten to stupor as being rumoured.
