Lagos State Government On Tuesday said it has reviewed the state education policy to enhance the state education sector and provide qualitative education.
The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule who said this while speaking at the stakeholder’s engagement on the review of Lagos state policy on education held in Lagos noted the government’s decision was informed by its resolve to produce the smart youths.
She explained that the state education must be re-engineered and schools re-positioned to deliver graduate students who will blend with global trends.
It was recalled that the educational policy of Lagos state government was last reviewed in 1988. And in the realization of that, a three days retreat was recently held on 14th -16th December, last year. Which its objective was to review the education policy of the state.
The deputy governor said, in the spirit of our inclusive governance,’’ we have discussed issues bothering on the implementation of Yoruba preservation and promotion law, public and private partnership in education, reform of technical and vocational education training, continuous professional development and certification for all teachers in the state.’’
She assured that the new policies and programmes will continue to be tailored towards creating enabling environment for teaching and learning in the state’s public schools and private service providers in the education sector to grow and improve on service delivery.
Speaking on the Education Policy Review, The Journey so Far, The National Coordinator, JAMB Equal Opportunity Group, Prof. Peter Okebukola, said the purpose of the reviewing the state education policy is to enhance the states human resources by providing free and compulsory qualitative education.
