Kingmakers Reinstate Deposed Ondo Monarch
Deposed first class monarch, Amapetu of Mahin in the oil rich Ilaje local government area of Ondo State, Oba Lawrence Omowole, has been reinstated by the kingmakers.
Omowole, the paramount ruler of Mahin Kingdom was earlier in the year, deposed by kingmakers for allegedly removing Oba Beniah Idiogbe as the Alaboto of Aboto.
He was alleged to have installed a foreigner, one Oyetayo Ofoaye as the new king of Aboto.
But in a statement issued in Akure, the state capital on Monday, the kingmakers said that the crisis between them and the monarchs which led to his being deposed had since been resolved.
The statement, which was signed by the Yasere of Mahinland, High Chief Godwin Balogun, pledged their support, solidarity and loyalty to the monarch in his avowed commitment to the progress and development of the kingdom.
The kingmakers however urged the monarch to ensure the speedy inauguration of Oba Beniah Adeola Idiogbe as the Alaboto of Aboto in Mahin Kingdom.
According to the statement, “The disagreement between His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Lawrence Adetemi Omowole, the Amapetu of Mahin and the Mahin Kingmakers as reported earlier in the year, has since been amicably resolved at a meeting of the Mahin Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs held at the palace of Odede of Igbo-Egurin.
“The Mahin Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs wish to assure members of the public, particularly sons and daughters of Mahin and all residents within the kingdom of continued peace and the enabling environment for the pursuit of business and general well-being of all.”
