Katsina DPO Escapes Death, Sustains Gunshot Injury From Armed Robbers

The Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Makera Division in Funtua local government area of Katsina state, Chief Superintendent Jibrin Mohammed has sustained injury from an alleged gunshot attack by armed robbers on Christmas eve.

Although, as at the time of filing in this report, official confirmation from the Police was still been awaited.

Efforts were made to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gambo Isah to confirm the development but his phone was not going through.

The robbers were said to have attacked the DPO and his men on duty post at Unguwar Dahiru, about a kilometer from the Police Divisional Headquarters.

Information gathered revealed that the robbers who rode on a motorcycle while approaching the policemen with a stationed patrol vehicle opened fire on the DPO, Chief Superintendent Jibrin Mohammed and another officer who also sustained injury.

DPO Jibrin Mohammed was said to have been allegedly shot on his arm and his currently receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed hospital, in Katsina where he was relocated to after the attack.

However, it was also gathered that the attack on DPO Mohammed was not the first as he was one time attacked in Kankara Local government area known for notorious bandits before his current posting to Makera division.
