Against all odds, Aruna Quadri maintained his status in the November ITTF World Ranking as the number 25th rated player in the world.
Many had expected the 2014 ITTF Star Player to slide in the ranking following his first round exit at the ITTF World Cup in Germany as well as the men’s singles final match lost to Egypt’s Omar Assar at the ITTF Africa Senior Championships in Morocco, but the Nigerian added four points to his world ranking to remain in top 25 in the globe.
In the October ranking, Aruna Quadri garnered 2441 points to move to 25 after his scintillating performance at Rio 2016 Olympic Games and despite his poor outings in the last one month, the Oyo State-born star now has 2445 points in the November ITTF ranking released at the weekend to maintain his status as number 25 in the world as the highest ranked African player in the world.
Also, African women’s singles champion, Olufunke Oshonaike, made the list of biggest movers in the world as the Germany-based star rose from 256 to 206, while seven-time Olympian, Segun Toriola, moved from 109 to 101.
Bode Abiodun also rose in the world rating, as the Portugal-based star moved from 183 to 175.
The trio of Olajide Omotayo, Azeez Jamiu and Nurudeen Hassan also made entered into the ITTF World Ranking.
