Ife Crisis: Ooni Inaugurates Truth And Reconciliation Committee
To ensure enduring peace and justice in Ifeland, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi has inaugurated a 11-member truth and reconciliation committee.
According to the monarch, the committee became imperative to bring to book, perpetrators of the recent clash between the Yoruba and Hausa communities in which lives and properties were lost and forestall future occurrence.
The constituted committee which include the Obalufe of Ifeland, Oba Idowu Adediwura; Jaran of Ife, High Chief Ademola Adeyeye; Waasin of Ilare, High Chief Zacheous Olasode among others, Seriki Hausa of Ife, Alhaji Mamuda Mandagali; Eze Ndigbo of Ife, Ezekiel Onyejekde; Okobairo of Urobo, David Akpomedaye; Chairman Modakeke Progressive Union, Alhaji Tajudeen Oke and security agencies, has Senator Babajide Omoware as its adviser.
The monarch who described the members of the Hausa community in Ile-Ife as his subjects noted that as co-owner of the town, he has enjoyed tremendous loyalty from them since he ascended the throne
Oba Adeyeye remarked: “Thank God for the normalcy that has returned to the land, lauded Gov Rauf Aregbesola , for been proactive and the security agents for their efforts towards ending the crisis”.
The royal father condemned the actions of those behind the fracas and promised that those behind the unfortunate incident will be apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.
The monarch admonished the Hausa community not to retaliate, pledging that Abuja motor parks will be relocated from Sabo, while police station will be located at the same spot.
The Monarch urged all the Yoruba people to always embrace the Hausa and other ethnic groups as their brothers to enjoy maximum peaceful coexistence.
