I Defied My Father To Join Politics -Mimiko
The Ondo State governor, Dr.  Olusegun Mimiko yesterday said he defied his father who after 1983 mayhem developed hatred for politicians,to go into politics in the early age of his life.
Mimiko who spoke after the public presentation of his biography titled: Mimiko’s Odyssey ,a Biography of Revelations written by Prof. Olu Obafemi ,noted that ,it was because of the violent background of the politics that time, that made his father not want him to involve in politics.
According to him, If there is anybody who infuse us with political virus, is my father himself.  He loves politics and followed politics. But after 1983 mayhem that my father developed hatred for politicians.
His words :”When I decided to have a go on politics ,it was because of the violent background of the politics that he did not want me to involve in politics. If he is alive now, he would have be proud of what we are have been able to achieve.
” He taught us early in life about how to care for others. He taught us that there are greatest virtue in life than money. Money is not the source of satisfaction.  I grow up in house that feel with love not about all these immaterial things. So early in life,i got a value about service.
“I got value that money is not matter in life but what matters is the hand of love you can extend to people. If father is alive, he would have be so proud about Abiye program because is about you taking care of the vulnerable in the society. He would also be proud about Mega schools because he spent his whole life in educating his children because he dropped out of school. Free shuttle bus will have gotten crazy with joy. Am sure he would have been proud by my accomplishments .
While speaking about his achievements in the last eight years, Mimiko said ,”I personally have the satisfaction that some of the dreams that I have had about what governance should be that governance should be about impacting the lives of people that any government programs that doesn’t impact is not what it.
” In every sector, God has given opportunity to impact positively the lives of our people in the state.  This gives me joy and I thank God for this wonderful opportunity. “
