I Am Not At Loggerhead With New FUNAAB VC -Monarch
The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has debunked report published in an online tabloid that he was angry with the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako over non receipt of the congratulatory message sent in a letter to the new helmsman.
The monarch in a statement signed by the Adviser to the Alake on Media and Publicity, Olootu Layi Labode, said the report is a misrepresentation of the what transpired between the palace and the institution.
The statement reads in part: “The attention of the Ake Palace has been drawn to an incorrect news story carried on an Online Newspaper, the Gateway Mail.
“The Newspaper had claimed in its steaming headline that, His Majesty, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, CON, Okukenu IV, was angry with the new helmsman of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, because the Congratulatory Message to Professor Salako could not be delivered last Tuesday morning, (30-10-2017) because arrangements for the inauguration of the new Vice Chancellor were in top gear.
“The Palace wishes to categorically state that the Gateway Mail account was a misrepresentation of the situation, capable of causing unnecessary misunderstanding between the two mutually friendly Institutions.
“The fact remains constant that the Alake was never angry with either Professor Kolawole Salako or the FUNAAB Community.
He said though it was true that Alake’s letter couldn’t be immediately delivered due to aforementioned official activities, it did caused any rancour between both parties .
The monarch further explained that ,”When Mr Femi Shodunke inquired from the Adviser to the Alake on Media and Publicity, (the Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland, Olootu Layi Labode) he was given full explanations as to what actually transpired.
“He was strongly advised not to publish against peace, harmony and amity existing between the Egba Paramount Ruler and Egbaland on one hand and a friendly Institution like FUNAAB.”
The monarch urged members of the Public, including the Egba at home and Diaspora as well as the FUNAAB Community, especially Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, to ignore all insinuations thrown up by the online media.
