Herdsmen kill 31, sack four villages in fresh Southern Kaduna attack

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday afternoon carried out fresh attacks on four communities in Southern Kaduna, killing 31 persons, including pregnant women and children, LEADERSHIP newspaper is reporting.
LEADERSHIP said it gathered that the herdsmen also burnt about 46 houses in Ungwan Rimi, Kitakum, Ungwan Magaji and Kigam communities of Kizakoro District of Chawai Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack was said to have lasted over seven hours.
The attack was confirmed by the Chairman of Kauru Local Government Area, Pius Bakam.
Bakam put the death toll at over 30.
He said: “I can confirm to you that there were attacks on our communities.
“The casualty figure is over 30.
“The youth are still searching for more dead bodies.
“The dead bodies will be given a mass burial tomorrow (Tuesday).
“The attack is unfortunate and condemnable.”
