Herdsman Bags 4-year Imprisonment Over kidnap In Osun
An Osun Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday sentenced a herdsman Mohamodu Zuberu, (22), to 4 years in Nigeria Correctional Center for kidnapping a 13-year-old boy Tunde Abdullahi at Iwaro village via Ikoyi.
The convict was earlier arraigned and remanded on September 3, 2020 on a count charge of kidnapping
According to the charge sheet, “That you Mohamodu Zuberu on 21st of  August 2020 at about 3:00 am at Iwaro village via Ikoyi in the Ikoyi Magisterial District, triable in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did unlawfully kidnap one Tunde Abdullahi to an unknown destination in such manner as to prevent any person entitled to have access to him.
“You thereby committed an offense punishable under section 364(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2002”
The convict who had no legal representation admitted guilty to a count charge of kidnapping preferred against him
The convict was said to have requested for 2 million naira ransom and later reduced it to three hundred and fifty thousand naira.
The case was adjourned till yesterday for fact giving and exhibit tender by the police prosecutor
The exhibits tendered by the prosecutor included a torchlight, phone, and pull over clothes.
In his ruling, Magistrate Opeyemi Badmus, after listening to the fact given by the police and the prove of admittance of guilty by the convict noted that admittance is the best evidence that he committed the crime
He thereby convicted and sentenced Mohamodu to four years jail term with hard labour in Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ilesa.
