Gunmen Kill Woman In Osun
A woman was Saturday shot dead by gunmen at Orisunbare market in Osogbo, the Osun State capital when some heavily armed men suddenly alighted from a motorcycle and open fire on her.
The tragic incident it was learnt caused panic in the area, as people ran in different directions to avoid being hit by the stray bullets fired at the helpless woman.
The assailants it was gathered rode on a motorcycle, at about 9.45am and suddenly opened fire severally on the aged woman, believed to be a labourer, usually engaged by bricklayers, working on building sites.
According an eyewitness, “The old woman is one of those people doing menial job for bricklayers working in construction sites. She was heading to Old Garage area, where they normally wait for bricklayers, who may come to pick them for daily paid job at construction sites.
“The boys were on motorcycle and they swiftly opened fire on the woman and she died on the spot. The policemen later came to scene and cordon off the area. The corpse of the woman was taken away in their vehicle.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro confirmed the incident.
She however disclosed that four suspects have been arrested by the Police in connection to the killing.
Odoro gave assurance that others involved in the dastardly acts would be apprehended and be made to face the wrath of the law.
