Gunmen Kill One, Abduct 5 OSCOTECH Staff In Osun

A senior staff of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH) Esa-Oke, Osun State, Mr Emmanuel Olaniyi has been shot dead by gunmen who also allegedly abducted five others on Esa-Oke/Ijebu-jesa road.

The list of those in their den included: Mr Olaleye Olalekan of Business Admin department, Engr. Adeyeoluwa Bankole, HOD Civil Engineering department, Dr Jesuola Ajibola, Director ventures, Mr. Adenreti Chukwu, Secretary to Civil Engineering department, Mrs Rachael Onyinocha Akinboboye, OSCOTECH Microfinance Bank.

Though a reliable source who spoke on condition of anonymity said one of the kidnapped victims have been rescued by members of the members of Esa-Oke Oodua Peoples Congress OPC led by one Kara, others are still in captivity.

The source also hinted that the kidnappers are demanding the sum of two million Naira as ransom on each of the victims.

While it was believed at certain quarters that suspected herdsmen were responsible for the abduction, some said they were cultists while a traditional Chief in the community blamed the incidence on internet fraud stars known as Yahoo boys.

The police have since bombarded the surrounding forest in the area of the dastardly act according to the State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye.

The scene at the resident of Mr. Emmanuel Olaniyi was pathetic when our reporter visited the deceased staff of OSCOTECH house located along Ilo-Ijesa Ilesa road.

The scene was characterised by wailing by family members, neighbours, and sympathizers who gathered in large number to sympathize with the bereaved family.

While no official statement was issued by authorities of the institution as at press time, the entire campus wore a pensive mood with academic work totally paralyzed.

A release by the Chairman of Oriade local government, Hon. Bumi Obiesun said he had contacted Governor Gboyega Oyetola on the incidence adding that both the state and local government would give necessary support to the police to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

His words, ‘’I have being with the police authorities since this unfortunate incident happened. We have given them all necessary support. We will not rest until the bandits are flushed out of forests and our people can travel without any ar. We have given the police necessary support.

“I have also discussed the unfortunate development with the CSO of the state Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola he sends his condolences to the family of those affected and the academic community of College of Technology Esaoke.
