Group Calls For Deployment Of Police Officers To Vulnerable Schools
Piqued by incessant cases of kidnapping in Lagos schools ,the Safe Schools and Communities Advocacy Group (SSCAG) has called on the Lagos state government to deploy police officers to schools vulnerable to kidnapping and other vices.
The group, while congratulating the boys for gaining their freedom, said police officers who are presently engaged in non-constitutional duties should be immediately posted to communities where vulnerable schools are located.
The group demanded the withdrawal of about one third of the Police population who serve as domestic servants to politicians, religious leaders, fraud merchants and other high-classed citizens who can afford the services of private security operatives.
“Those policemen and officers posted to such illegal duties should be immediately deployed to our communities, especially where vulnerable schools are located”, they reiterated.
Meanwhile, the group also called on the Lagos State Government to refund forthwith, any amount of ransom paid by frustrated parents and guardians.

They further pleaded for the rehabilitation of the six pupils who might have been exposed to social vices, criminal ways and lifestyle of the kidnappers, apart from psychological and physical trauma they have gone through for over sixty days.
They urged the Lagos State Government to improve on the funding of education, rehabilitation of decrepit school facilities, recruitment of teachers and other categories of staff in order to ensure that there are adequate and competent hands in every public school in Lagos to keep it safe for children.
