Flood Wrecks Havoc, Renders 5,000 Homeless In Oyo

An early Tuesday morning rainfall in many parts of Oyo State, especially the state capital, has wreaked havoc as no fewer than 5,000 people have been rendered homeless.
Property including houses, cars and motorcycles were submerged in the heavy downpour that lasted for five hours, destroying electric poles, wires and cable in its wake.
Also lost to the early morning down pour were food items such as rice, beans, yam flour, semovita and corn among others.
This is coming two days after ‎flood ravaged Sakutu area of Atiba local government of the state.
The Onipepeye bridge on the Old-Ife road was overflown, with cars ‘swimming’ in the ‘pool of water’.
Unconfirmed report also states that a section of Celestial Church of Christ, CCC, at Orogun, which is not far from the second gate of the University of Ibadan, collapsed.
Reports also have it that many motorcycles were ‘drowned’‎ at the Dandaru river in the state capital.
At Agbowo in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state, no fewer than 2,000 houses and shops were submerged by the flood.
Most of the artisans and food sellers who reported after the rain expressed shock and disbelief at the havoc.

At Olodo, about eight house’s were submerged by the rain while some residents were trapped.
