FCT Commences Assessment Of Flood Prone Areas

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCT),  Chinyeaka Ohaa has flagged off the 2019 assessment of flood-prone places in Area Councils in Abuja.

Speaking in Ashara-Wako in Kwali Area Council, Abuja, Ohaa enjoined residents to desist from dumping refuse in drainage channels, farming on riverbanks and building on waterways.

The Permanent Secretary, who blamed the poor attitude of residents for the recurring flood incidents in parts of the city also condemned activities of estate developers who deliberately contravene provisions of the Master Plan to build houses on flood plains and natural courses and channels of rivers.

He called on traditional rulers and other stakeholders to support the various factions of the government in this regard and also educate their subjects.
