Fayose Charges New Commissioners On Selfless Service
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, Friday swore-in two new commissioners, urging them to offer selfless service that would be in the overall interest of the citizens rather than for personal gains.
The governor during the inauguration of the duo of Chief Tunde Ogunleye and Mr. Ayodeji Alabi as members of the state executive council, also warned them against perceiving themselves as ‘lords’ to the government and the good people of the state.
The appointments of the two new commissioners came following the recent dissolution of the state exco with virtually all the commissioners recalled, while Mr Owoseeni Ajayi and Deji Adesua, who were Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public utilities, respectively were dropped.
Fayose, who was represented by his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola at the event charged the appointees to work assiduously to ensure that the state witnesses tremendous development and refrain from betraying the confidence reposed in them by the people.
While noting that people of the state voted overwhelmingly for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014 with the hope that the hard-biting poverty among the populace can be mitigated, he said, “You could remember that the State Executive was dissolved a couple of weeks ago with the hope to reinvigorate our team for timely delivery of democratic dividends to our people.
“With this, we need the support of intelligent and committed people and that was why we appointed you. As a government, we see you as round pegs in round holes.
“Don’t forget that you are coming at a time when Ekiti needs consolidation. You have to be diligent, so that our electoral promises to the good people of Ekiti can be fulfilled.
“See these opportunities as a call to service. Don’t see yourselves as lords or get carried away by these positions. Be courageous and be loyal to the government of Ekiti State. See the Ekiti project as achievable and that it can only be achieved through hard work and selfless service”, he said.
Responding, Ayodeji Alabi promised that they will be loyal to the people and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
