Emir Of Kano Gets 48-hours Ultimatum To Answer Query
The Kano State government Thursday asked the Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II 48 hours to “give satisfactory explanations” on the allegations of financial impropriety made against the Emirate Council by state’s anti-graft agency.
The secretary to the state government Usman Alhaji, who issued the query on behalf of the government, said Sanusi’s answer to the query will allow the government to “take appropriate decision”.
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission recommended the suspension of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, from his throne over alleged misappropriation of N3.4 billion.
According to the commission, the crime was committed between 2014 and 2017.
The recommendation was contained in a preliminary report of an investigation conducted by the commission and signed by its chairman, Mr Muhuyi Magaji. A copy of the report was made available to newsmen in Kano yesterday.
The investigation was in respect of a petition of financial misappropriation levelled against the Kano Emirate Council under Sanusi.
