El-Rufai To Build 3,000 Capacity Hostel At NYSC Camp

The Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said that his government will build additional blocks of hostels, to accommodate 3,000 corps members.

He stated this at permanent Orientation camp of the NYSC where 2,237 corp members took their oath of service.

According to the governor, the state government takes the NYSC scheme very seriously because of the potentials it presents in terms of presenting the state with man power.

The governor who was represented by Commissioner, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Daniel Dan-Auta, said “If you look around, you can see that we have just finished the first phase of the general renovation of the camp. It is in phases.

‘We are already in the second phase which include the parade ground, female hostel and staff quarters. We only have itches with the contractor and that has been sorted out.

“Due to our seriousness in upgrading the facilities here, NYSC headquarters has doubled the number of corps members to be deployed to Kaduna state.

“We are expanding permanent site in the third phase to accommodate up to 3,000 corps members so we can have more of the essential workers you talked about”, he explained.

The Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kaduna, Alhaji Dahunsi Mohammed expressed appreciation to Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for completion of the first phase of the renovation work at the camp which he said had made the orientation course more conducive.
