Ekiti Voters Yet To Collect 200,000 PVC
No fewer than 200,000 eligible voters in Ekiti are yet to claim their
permanent voter cards from the state office of the Independent
National Electoral Commission, (INEC).
The commission’s Administrative Secretary in the state, Dr. Muslim
Moleke, who made the disclosure yesterday advised the affected people
to take advantage of the nationwide continuous voter registration
exercise which commenced on Thursday, to collect their PVC.
Moleke noted that the eligible voters decided to abandon their voter
cards, soon after registration was alarming 2014 exercise which
preceded the last governorship election in the state.
He urged affected persons to use the coming exercise to collect such
abandoned cards so that the real reason for engaging in the continued
registration exercise would not be defeated.
According to him, the coming exercise would take place only at the
various INEC Local Government Headquarters, adding that the commission
has trained 80 of his staff for the exercise.
Moleke, however said the exercise might be extended to ward level as
well as polling units, if it there is need for it.
The INEC boss assured that adequate security and logistic arrangement
had been made for a successful exercise.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti state government has declared Thursday and Friday
as work-free-day to allow workers and the general public to
participate in the exercise.
