Ekiti Varsity Student Declared Missing
A student of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Miss Adefunke Adewodun has been declared missing by the police.
Our correspondent gathered that Adefunke, a 200 level student of the Department of Theatre and Media, was last seen on the morning of Monday, 24, April, when she came to her hostel in Osekita to pick some of her effects and left thereafter.
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alberto Adeyemi, who confirmed the development to journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday revealed that Adefunke was sighted on the said day at the hostel after returning to the school from first semester break.
Adeyemi who said that efforts had begun to unravel the whereabouts of the missing girl added, “It would be improper to say particularly what has happened to the girl”
According to him, “It is true the lady (Adefunke) is missing. She was seen last at her hostel when she was seen entering her hostel room to pick some things and went out after returning from Ondo.”
The mother of the missing girl, Mrs. Rosaline Adewodun, while narrating her ordeal to the newsmen in tears, explained that her daughter called her twice since from captivity, requesting that the family should be praying for her safety and escape.
She clarified that the last time she set her eyes on her daughter was on Sunday, 23 April 2017, when she left Ondo after the first semester break and that efforts to trace her since then had been fruitless.
She said, “Funke called me in the night of Sunday that we should be praying for her. Again around 1pm on Monday, she called, saying we should not worry again as she was Ok. I however insisted I would come to the school as I already left Ondo and was in Akure.
“She came to Ondo (town), where I stay for the holiday and after, she returned to school. That was 23 April. On Monday, she was said to have come to her hostel around 8am and left again.
“Nigerians should help me look for my daughter. She has been missing for almost twenty days. I have been in Ado-Ekiti for four days looking for her everywhere. We have reported to the police”, she lamented
