Eid-el-Kabir: Foundations Extend Generosity To Abuja Less Privileged
A not-for-profit organisation, The Maple Leaf Early Years Foundation, in collaboration with Life USA, demonstrated their commitment to philanthropy by distributing meat to the less privileged in the Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja on Tuesday.
The team lead for the project, Docars Madumeye, said the project aimed to support the Muslim faithful who lack the means to fully partake in the festivities.
Recognising the prevailing challenges caused by the removal of fuel subsidies and the soaring inflation rate, Madumeye emphasised that this act of kindness would alleviate the hardship faced by the recipients.
“The gesture is to assist the less privileged during this period when Nigerians are grappling with the tough consequences of fuel subsidy removal and high inflation rates, which have escalated the cost of living and prices of essential commodities,” said Madumeye. “We believe that the shared meat will bring solace to the families of those who have benefited from it.
She noted that the foundations had previously donated emergency relief to Nigerian communities devastated by floods and distributed back-to-school items to the less privileged, among other commendable humanitarian interventions. Their commitment to uplifting society remains unwavering.
“MLFYF, in partnership with Life, has previously donated emergency relief to Nigerian communities devastated by floods and back-to-school items to the less privileged amongst other humanitarian interventions which would continue to do,” she added.
Expressing his gratitude, one of the beneficiaries, Shaibu Abdulahi, revealed that this gesture had restored hope for celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.
Abdullahi urged other organisations to follow suit, emphasising the prevailing hardships faced by the country’s population.
“This gesture has brought us immense happiness. We had nothing to celebrate Sallah with, but this act of kindness has instilled hope within us. The exorbitant price of meat in the country has placed it out of reach for many. We deeply appreciate the organisation’s efforts,” Abdulahi shared gratefully.
Abdullahi further called upon well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to extend their support to the masses, considering the prevalent hunger in the country.
