Ebonyi To Shut Down Illegal Private Schools

Ebonyi State Government has declared it’s intention to shut down illegal and
unauthorized private schools that could not meet up with the
standard set by the ministry of Education in the state.
on the out come of State Executive Council Meeting at the Government
House Abakaliki.
He said that 90 day ultimatum would be given to
operators of unapproved private schools in the state to approach the
ministry of education for compliance before closing down the schools.
Nwele further stressed that “The executive council believes in good
quality’s education of Ebonyi children to be of high standard for the
best interest of the students and the state. And due to that Executive council has
approved the granting of soft loans to operators of unapproved schools
in the State to enable them fast track their registration
requirements.” Nwele said.
Meanwhile the Commissioner for Education, Hon.
Sabinus Nwankwagu, who
advised operators of illegal schools to meet up with school
requirements standard as any school that does not have government approval would be closed down.
“If you are operating a school that is not approved by government,
there is a section that prescribes six months imprisonment , we need
to comply with the conditions of the Laws .
Nwankwagu, also maintained that the Government’s decision was based
on the determination of the present administration in the State to
totally reposition the education sector.
