Don Laments Failure To Tap Tourism To Boost Nation’s Economy
Nigeria may find it difficult to fully survive economic recession if it fails to tap abundant tourism potentials at its disposal because the era of oil boom is over.
This was the submission of the Chief Executive Director, Aloha Hotel and Resort, Osogbo Dr. Soba Oyekan, while fielding questions from newsmen on activities lined up for the commissioning of the facility.
Oyekan who lamented failure of successive governments to explore the tourism potentials that abound across the nation noted that oil has become illusion and any attempt to rely on it will spell doom for the nation.
He identified Osun state as the centre of Yoruba axis in Nigeria, blessed with mineral resources, wildlife and tourist attraction that is globally recognized.
Speaking on how hotel businesses can be lucrative, the business mogul said the patronage from local and foreign tourists will further enhance profitability and help provide sustainable jobs for out teeming unemployed youths.
He bemoaned the rate of unemployment among the youths in the country and announced free 22 clinical training for Clinic and hospitals in collaboration with American Healthcare Inc. Seattle USA and proways dynamic resources limited as part of activities for the commissioning of the hotel.
Others include: Free diabetes Education and Management presentation, Free blood check up check, Dementia Education/Awareness, CPR & First Aid training on how to resuscitate people that passed out or faint during shock among others.
Beside health training, youths would be trained on Business Entrepreneurship, Fishery, Tie and dye, agriculture practices while some would obtain education support.
He noted that many Nigerian youths fly abroad due to lack of employment opportunities in Nigeria and promise to contribute his quotas to the development of the country through youth empowerment and job creation.
However, the project manager Mr. Idima O Joseph said that Aloha hotel as redefined hospitality in tourism industry at Osun state in particular and Nigeria.
According to the Manager, “The grand opening of Aloha hotel and resort will take place on June 30, this year
He said the hotel will offer more than lodging, “it is a 20 room luxury suites with the queen and king size bed accommodations.
“The Resort is a vacation wonderland with the plesure of Yoruba culture, featuring swimming pool, water sports, 18-hole golf course, 24-hours gym and fine dining restaurants and event centre on a magnificent 10-acre property.” he said.
