Fraud: Man Docked For Defrauding Woman Of Rice Valued At N2m
For allegedly defrauding Mrs Oyetoro Omolade 100 bags of rice valued N2m, one Adesanmi Adeyera, (42), was Thursday, docked at an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Elijah Adesina, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 20, 2020 at about 5:30 pm at Oja-Tuntun, in Ile-Ife.
Adesina said that the defendant fraudulently obtained 100 bags of rice valued N2m, from Oyetoro Omolade under false pretence of paying her for the goods within five days which turned out to be false.
Adesina added that the defendant fraudulently collected and converted 100 bags of rice worth N2m, that belonged to Oyetoro Omolade to her own use.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
However,  Mr Ola Ibrahim, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in most liberal term with the pledge that his client would not jump bail, but stand his case.
Magistrates A.A. Ayeni granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum adding that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means among other bail conditions as he adjourned the case until Sept 20, for hearing.
