Ibadan family heads, popularly known as the authentic Mogajis (family heads) on Friday, threatened to remove Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State unceremoniously from office if he ever dares to depose the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

The family heads in a statement said that if governor Ajimobi dares to depose the Olubadan, all the Ibadan families will rise to remove him unceremoniously.

The family heads said that they cannot fold their arms and allow miscreants turn the state to a war theater.

The spokespersons; Chief Olawale Oladoja Akinsola (Akinsola Compound, Opopo Labiran) and Chief Abbas Oloko (Oloko Compound, Kobomoje), said that the utterances of governor Ajimobi against Olubadan was becoming unbearable for the true sons and daughters of Ibadan land.

According to them, governor Ajimobi had uttered derogatory statements against the monarch more than three times in recent time.

Among the derogatory statements quoted by the family heads included; when governor Ajimobi said in the past that the Olubadan’s wife was his errand girl, disclosure of the amount he spent on the Olubadan coronation and lastly, saying that he can dethrone the monarch.

“Yes, our amiable governor Ajimobi of Oyo state has executive power to suspend or remove Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, but he shouldn’t forget that we, the people of the state, also have the power to call for his removal through the House of Assembly.

“We are all from Ibadan land and if you suspend our king, you will be removed from office unceremoniously.

“We use this opportunity to call on the Inspector General of Police to provide adequate security for Olubadan and all the Authentic Mogajis of Ibadan land.

“We call on our amiable president to wade into the undemocratic governance in Oyo state.”
