The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus, on Wednesday said rumoured defection of some party’s bigwigs into other political parties is not a bad political development.
The National Chairman of PDP stated this in Akure, Ondo State, on his way to Ekiti State for a meeting with stakeholders ahead of the governorship election in the state.
Secondus who obviously reacted to the defection rumour of the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko ,former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore and Rasheed Ladoja, former governor of Oyo State to the Labour Party (LP),Social Democratic Party (SDP ) and Alliance for Democracy (AD), respectively said it is a good political development.
He also decried the invasion of the National Assembly by suspected hoodlums, describing such action as the height of insecurity in the country.
The PDP boss said the movement of the party bigwigs to other political parties, was in the interest of the people as everybody would be united against the President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s second term ambition.
Flanked by leaders of the party in the southwest including Dr Eddy Olafeso, Chief Clement Faboyede, Ayo Fadaka and Oyedele Ibine, Secondus said they would soon come together for the removal of the present APC’s government.
He said, “We all are Nigerians, I believe that all the forces are working together for the interest of this nation and at this point we believe that the movement is for the interest of all Nigerians. The move is to rescue Nigeria from the crisis we have found ourselves.
“I want to tell you that they will come together at the appropriate time because it is not an individual interest it is a national interest.”
Harping on the invasion of the National Assembly, Secondus said, “A few minutes ago, in the senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we were informed that hoodlums forced their ways into the senate chamber and carted away the mace, the symbol of authority.
“What that means is that the country is totally broken. The APC government is totally broken. Insecurity all over from the North to the East to West, people are dying on daily basis.’’
