Cultists Sack Ogun Communities As Police Lament Lack Of Patrol Van

School children, business owners and market women have been forced indoors Friday by cultists in Mowe and its environs.

Our correspondent gathered that a dreaded cult group called Aye fraternity had issued warning to the communities’ leaders hinting that today, July 7 is the day they observe annually for their ritual rites.

Rumours of possible clash between rival cults also rammed through the communities Thursday throwing residents of Mowe and neighbouring communities into palpable fears that led to closure of schools, shops and markets in the area today.

Residents of the town with many of schools were forced to stay at home as major employers, parents were notified via text messages last night to keep their children and wards indoors owing to security concerns.

The town also suffered uneasy calm due to rumours of the dreaded Badoo cultists moving down to the town from Ikorodu where they are currently unleashing terror at midnight.

One of the text messages received yesterday night by a parent from  highbrow school in the town reads, “Dear Valued Parents. We regret to inform you that our school would not be opened tomorrow Friday July 7, 2017 due to security concerns of possible violent clashes between rival cult groups. We would resume normal classes on Monday July 10, 2017. Thank you.”

Various markets in Mowe area remain scanty with only a few shops open.

A police officer at the Criminal Investigation Department of Mowe Police Division said the unit was aware of the threat to peace in the area.

Lamenting that the unit lacks patrol vehicles, the officer who preferred anonymity however enthused that the station was ready for anyone who wants to breach the peace of the town.

“We have been making the environment uneasy for hoodlums in last four days now and we are all ready to battle whosover wants to make the town hot. But the problem is there is no patrol vehicle in the whole of Mowe station,” the officer said.

A fast growing Lagos neighbourhood located on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway, activities of cultists have remain a menace to the Mowe axis.

Traditional rulers in the communities have been calling for establishment of more police posts following huge inflow of people into the area from Lagos. Most Mowe residents are people who work in Lagos.
