Court Remands Warehouse Manager Over Alleged Fraud

For alleged fraud of over N5.7M, an Ilesa Magistrate’s Court in Osun State yesterday remanded a warehouse manager Kazeem Zakariyah, aged 36.

Though the accused person opted that the case be heard by the court, his plea was not taken as the presiding magistrate, ordered that he should be remanded in prison.

The Prosecutor, Insp Jimoh Mufutau, told the court that the accused and others now at large committed the offence sometimes in the month of May, 2015 at a location opposite Odooro motor park, Ilesa.

He said that the accused conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit: obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

Mufutau added that the accused took the advantage of being the manager of the warehouse of Adebambutayo Trading store, to obtained goods worth N5.7 million, property of one Busayo Adejumo.

According to him, the offence contravened section 383, punishable under sections 390 (9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Magistrate Joshua Owolawi ordered for the remand of the accused in Ilesa prison custody as he adjourned April 28, for ruling of the bail application.
