Court Remands Suspect Over Rape Attempt On Pregnant Woman
For alleged attempt to rape a pregnant woman in Modakeke, Osun state, 29-year-old Ademakinwa Emmanuel was Wednesday remanded in prison by an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Modakeke-Ife
The Prosecutor, Insp Ona Glory, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 7, 2018 around 01:00 am at Modakeke-Ife, in Ife East local government area of Osun state.
Glory said that the accused indecently assaulted one Miss Edith Samson, 21, by laying on her with intent to have carnal knowledge of her against her consent.
He added that the suspect also stole the victim’s cash sum of N45, 000 kept in her purse inside the room the rape attempt was made.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 360. 383 (1) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The suspect, who was not legally represented pleaded guilty to count 1 of indecent assault and pleaded not guilty to count 11 of stealing.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Famuyide, refused the bail of the suspect, but rather ordered his remand in Ile-Ife prison custody as she adjourned the case until June 28, for hearing.
