Court Remands 82-year-old Man In Agodi Prison Over N41m Fraud
An Ibadan Chief Magistrates Court has remanded an 82 year-old man, Prince Aminu Musa Oyebamiji in Agodi Prison, Ibadan over alleged N41million fraud.
In the Charge No. Mu/419c/2018, Commissioner of Police versus Prince Aminu Musa Oyebamiji, the suspect was charged with three-count charge that he and others now at large sometimes in the month of June, 2015 at Alalubosa area, Ibadan did conspire together to commit felony to wit by obtaining money under false pretence and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. 11 Laws of Oyo State, Nigeria 2000.
The octogenarian in connivance with others still at large was also alleged to have fraudulently obtained the total sum of N41million from one Mr. Adeniyi Aderemi under the pretence of awarding him a contract for rehabilitation of Ahoda Community through Baminco Nigeria Ltd. From Agip Company, knowing same to be false.
This, it was stated in the charge was a committal of an offence punishable under section 419 of Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol 11 Laws of Oyo State Nigeria, 2000.
The third count said that Prince Oyebamiji and the members of his group said to be at large on the same date, time and place in aforementioned Magisterial District did steal sum of N41m said to be the property of one Mr. Adeniyi Aderemi.
By that, Prince Oyebamiji was said to have committed an offence punishable under Section 390 (9) of Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol 11 Laws of Oyo State Nigeria, 2000.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate Jejelaye Ogunbona granted him N2.5m bail with two sureties in like sum.
Chief Magistrate Ogunbona ordered that the two sureties must be well known personalities in the community, landlords within the magisterial vicinity and must be ready to deposit the Certificate of Occupancy [C of O] or Conveyance of the properties with the Registrar of the court and adjourned further hearing of the case till 3rd May this year.
