Court Grants Tenant 2 Months To Vacate Apartment

An Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, has granted a tenant, Jude Abdul, two months to vacate his rented apartment.

The presiding Judge, Hammad Ajumobi, gave the order after the defendant applied for two months, to enable him secure another place before vacating his rented apartment.

Ajumobi ruled that the defendant should vacate the premises by end of January 2024, and to pay for the rent of both December 2023 and January 2024, latest by December 31, 2023.

He however said that failure to pay the two months rent at the stipulated time, the defendant should vacate immediately and still pay for December 2023 rent.

Earlier, the landlord, Kasali Mukaila, had applied to the court to evict the tenant, whose annual rent of N200,000 expired in October, without paying arrears of one month owed.

Mukaila insisted on allowing the tenant to stay for one more month, after the defendant pleaded for two more months.

He later agreed to the court ruling and applied that the net profit of the two months that the defendant would be spending in his apartment should be paid.
