Court Remands 2 Over Alleged Possession Of Human Head In Osun
An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Monday remanded two persons, Supo Bamidele, (48) and Amos Suleiman, (51) in prison custody for allegedly being in possession of human head.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the two count charge of conspiracy and unlawful possession of human parts preferred against them.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode refused the bail of the accused, but asked their defence counsels, Mr Lere Ayinde and Mr Niyi Kosile to come with written application for the consideration of their bail.
Ijiyode therefore ordered for the remand of the accused in Ile-Ife prison custody pending when their bail would be considered, saying this will serve as deterrent to others.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Christian Olajide, an Inspector of Police had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov 31, 2018 around 4:30 pm at Ondo Road Area, Ile-Ife.
Olajide said that the accused conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit: unlawful possession of human head, two hands, human flesh with intention of using same for ritual.
He added that the accused could not give satisfactory account of human head, two hands and flesh which were intended for ritual.
According to him, the accused could not justify the cutting-off of the head of the deceased that was found in their possession.
Olajide added that the offence contravened 242 (1), (b) 329A, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The case was adjourned until Jan 31, for mention
