Corruption: TETFund Begins Monthly Publication Of Approved Funds To Varsities, Others

Concerned about complaints arising from alleged sharp practices in universities, polytechnics and all its other beneficiary institutions in the country, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, has begun monthly publication of approved funds and other benefits.

The approvals, releases and other benefits made to all beneficiary institutions will be contained in the monthly publication it christened “TETFund Monthly Digest” for all stakeholders to see.

The development, according to the agency, is aimed at not only promoting transparency but also accountability, thus clearing all necessary doubts in benefits made to its beneficiary institutions. Executive Secretary of TETFund, Dr Abdullahi Bichi Baffa, who spoke at the public presentation of the maiden edition of the monthly publication in Abuja, said the development was aimed at raising transparency to a higher level.

He said: “I think it’s appropriate to raise transparency to a higher level, so everything we have conducted in a given month, every approval we have given to all our beneficiary institutions, every fund we have disbursed to all beneficiary institutions, every scholarship we have given to all the scholars in each beneficiary institutions, every sponsorship we have approved for scholars to attend conferences and the amounts that we have approved for them, every approval that we have given for scholars to conduct research in a given month, we should compile them and make them available to the community of stakeholders in particular and the general public for the purpose of making these information available for all to see.
