COOUTH Medical Consultants Shelve Strike

The Medical Consultants Association of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, Anambra State, has called off its six-week long strike Tuesday.

Chairman of the association, Dr. Chukwudi Okani, who disclosed this Tuesday, said the call off followed the signing of an agreement between the representative of the board of the hospital, Dr. Clem Idigo and representative of the association, Okani.

According to him, the government fulfilled the obligation of clearing the arrears of salaries of the workers, and promised to meet that of the consultants when the internally-generated revenue improves.

He, therefore, threatened that the medical consultants would resume their strike by end of January this year if the government reneges on the agreement.
