Osun 2018: US Consul General Meets Adeleke
Senator Ademola Adeleke the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 22, 2018 governorship election in Osun State Tuesday met the United States of America (USA), Consul General, Mr. John Bray, behind closed-door.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Adeleke said, John Bray asked if he was under any threat because of what happened in Ekiti State.
“But I told him that Osun is different from Ekiti. The people of Osun state are vibrant because they will vote and monitor their votes, which led to me winning the by-election in landslide and I believe same thing will happen in 2018.
“I told him that Osun state people need change because the present government led by Aregbesola is owing workers and pensioners  heavily.
Commenting further on the visit, Adeleke said: “The visit of the US Consul  to the stakeholders in the Osun election will have a great impact in 2018 governorship election.
“You know the team will be coming around to help in monitoring the election. This can only make the election to be free and successful.
“The Consul also asked about my plans for Osun state. I mentioned quite a few to him. I told him about my plans for agriculture, infrastructure, education and other areas and how we hope to impact on the people of the state positively.”
Urging electorate in the state to be calm and law abiding during and after the election, Adeleke expressed hope that  the poll would be peaceful, free, fair and credible.
“Some people are speculating that police will come to Osun to disrupt the election, but I believe that will not happen. We are law abiding and our president is law abiding too”, Adeleke concluded.
