Osun 2018: SDP Conducts Ward Congress In Osun

Speaking with newsmen before the commencement of the Congress, the SDP electoral panel Chairman Hon. Mba Ajah, said the Congresses would hold as all the necessary steps including approval by the Independent National Electoral Commission have been obtained with materials necessary for hitch free electoral process put in place.

According to him, the ward congress was slated for Saturday, local governments, tomorrow, Monday, while the state Congress will come up next Saturday.

The former member, House of Representatives who led four others that included Mr Rufus Aiyenigba, Secretary, Alhaji Affa Mohammed, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of SDP,  Hon. Sahara Abubakar, chairman Plateau state SDP and Haha Saadatu Abdullahi from Adamawa state also announced July 18th, as the party primary election ahead the September 22, governorship election in the state.

On the court order restraining SDP from conducting the congresses, Ajah claimed ignorance of the development saying that none of the leadership of the party was aware adding that they were not served with any court order to that effect.

The chairman who disclosed that the party opted for direct congresses, said every registered members of the party are qualified party delegate for the exercise.

Mba however charged every party members to be united and embrace harmony among themselves to oust
the ruling party from the corridor of power in the state and at the same time defeat other political opponents in the political battle ahead.

Monitoring the exercise in some parts of the state Leadership observed that the exercise went on smoothly across the state as at press time.

It will be recalled that an Osun State High Court, sitting in Ikirun Friday granted an order of interim injunction restraining the former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore and his group within the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from conducting the proposed congresses.

It was a group within the SDP that dragged Omisore and other members of the party into the court over suspension of the chairman of the party, Alhaji Isola for alleged anti party activities.
