CNPP Back Adeleke For Osun Senatorial Poll

No fewer than 15 political parties under the aegis of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) Sunday adopted the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the July 8. Osun West Senatorial District election, Dr. Ademola Adeleke.

Besides, the coalition organisation raised the alarm that the National leadership of the All Progressives Parties Congress (APC) was mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to shift the date of the election.

Addressing newsmen in Ede Sunday, Prince Gbade Adelakun, Secretary, CNPP and Chairman of Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) who was flanked by chairmen of the political parties said any attempt by INEC to postpone the election would cast moral burden on the electoral body who had initially insisted on the July 8 date contrary to many political parties suggestion of 22nd July, 2017.

The parties blamed the pressure on INEC on the jittery of APC as a result of the rising popularity of Ademola Adeleke adding that any attempt to shift the election will automatically erode INEC of its independency and be seen as stooge of the ruling party.

CNPP alleged that the ruling APC has connived with thugs they named ‘State boys’ to unleash terror on innocent electorates before, during and after the election particularly in the rural areas.

They therefore called on security agencies to be on red alert to ensure a hitch free electoral process and forestall breakdown of law and order and prevent loss of lives and properties.

Prominent among the parties leadership present were: Pastor Popoola Olatunji,, APGA, Hon. Rafiu,  Adekunle, AA, Prince Gbade Adelakun, APP, Tajudeen Adekunle, PDM, Ademola Ishola SAP. Olapade Adekunle, AD, UPN, Wale Alabi, UPN, Akin Bakare. Adetunji Bunmi, Green Party of Nigeria.
