Change Of Name For TASCE Underway- Ogun Assembly
The Ogun State House of Assembly says it will partner the executive arm of government to amend the law establishing Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) to effect adjustment in its name in fulfillment of the recommendations of the National Council of College of Education accreditation team to achieve full accreditation for all programmes run by the institution.
The Assembly through its Committee on Education, Science and Technology led by Hon Victor Fasanya stated this in continuation of its assessment visit to the College, explaining that the amendment became imperative to address the issue of two state institutions named after the late social crusader, Tai Solarin.
Fasanya in company of Honourables Olayiwola Ojodu,Rasaq Oduntan, Akanbi Bankole and Oyenuga Olufowobi commended the management of the institution for upgrading the institution’s facilities which according to him had aided teaching and learning as well as adding ecstasy to the college.
Conducting the committee round the facilities at the college, the Provost, Dr Adeola Kiadese said the institution within the last six months had witnessed tremendous development ranging from purchase and installation of more infrastructural facilities, provision of teaching and learning facilities as well as prompt payment of 50% of salary to staff amongst others
According to him, newly procured equipment were in Biology Department, integrated Science, Chemistry and physics laboratories as well as school of vocational and technical education.
Kiadese who said the school just accredited about 38 programmes, promised that the institution would commence its degree programme by September 2017, with the recent visit of the degree accreditation team from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
The Committee also visited facilities at the campuses of Abraham Adesanya ICT Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo including the mass communication studio housing radio and television stations of the institutions at Abusi Edumare, Ijebu Igbo as well as the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade where the team was conducted round the college’s radio and Television Stations and other ongoing projects by the Rectors, Prof. Jumoke Bilesanmi and Dr. Kolawole Oyeyinka respectively.
