Canada Commends NIDCOM For Diaspora Conference Success
Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Carlos Rojas-Arbulú, has commended the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and its NiDEC Planning Committee for hosting a highly impactful diaspora conference in Canada.
The Canadian envoy described the conference as a positive step towards strengthening ties between Nigeria and Canada, noting that it created an important platform for greater cooperation and engagement between both countries.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the NiDCOM Chair, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Lagos, Rojas-Arbulú praised NiDCOM and the 15-member Planning Committee for the successful organisation of the conference and its positive outcomes.
Responding, Dabiri-Erewa expressed delight at the feedback and thanked Canadian authorities for their support and partnership. She said the commendation confirmed that the conference had achieved its purpose and assured that NiDCOM would work with relevant stakeholders to build on its success.
She added that the Commission would continue to promote stronger engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora, creating more opportunities for collaboration, investment and national development, and expressed optimism that the partnership between Nigeria and Canada would keep growing to the benefit of both countries.
The three-day conference which took place in three cities in Canada, brought together government officials from Nigeria and Canada at the highest level ,diaspora professionals, investors and other stakeholders who explored avenues for greater cooperation and development.
