7 Amosun’s Cabinet Members Resign Appointment
No fewer than five Commissioners and two other Special Advisers who are all members of the Amosun’s state Executive Committee have resigned their appointments from the state.
The Amosun’s exco members, who resigned their appointments included the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Dayo Adeneye, his counterpart at the Urban and Physical Planning, Ronke Sokefun, that of the Ministry of Agriculture, Adepeju Adebajo, as well as the Commissioner in the Ministry of Forestry, Kolawole Lawal.
The remaining two other appointees included the Adviser to Amosun on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Barr. Leke Adewolu and Director General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Biyi Ismail.
It was gathered that Sokefun resigned her appointment as the state Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning to resume her position as Chairman, Board of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
It was further learned that the six other political appointees in Amosun’s cabinet resigned their appointments to pursue their ambitions for the various elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
Adebajo in her own case, resigned as Commissioner for Agriculture to concentrate on campaign as the deputy governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), while others quitted to face their campaigns as candidates for House of Representatives seats.
Speaking at a valedictory session during the state Executive Council meeting, held at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Monday, Governor Ibikunle Amosun thanked them for their selfless services to the state as well as their support to his administration.
He said their contributions were significant to the achievements of his administration’s mission to rebuild Ogun State, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa and the Head of Service, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, all commended their immense services to the state.
The former cabinet members, in their separate speeches, thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve and also noted the cordial working relationship with other members of the cabinet.
They unanimously commended Amosun for providing good governance to the people of the state, particularly in addressing the security challenge that confronted it at inception of his administration.
