Butcher Beats Wife To Death Over Disagreement In Ogun
A 38 year-old butcher, Shina Kasali has been arrested for beating his wife to death following a minor argument which ensued between the couple in Ogun state,
The jobless Kasali allegedly committed the crime last Saturday 1st December, 2018 at the couple’s residence in Abosule axis of Agbado town, in the Ifo local government area of the state.
It was learned that Kasali had beaten Sofiat to a coma during the scuffle before she finally died while she was being rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident said police arrested the jobless butcher following a report lodged at the Police Divisional headquarters in Agbado by one of the couple’s neighbour identified as Tunde Babatunde.
The PPRO explained that Kasali had ordered the deceased not to go out and fetch water but she refused, which led to the minor disagreement that later led to the death of Sofiat.
“The argument led to scuffle between the two, consequent upon which the suspect beat the deceased to coma. She finally gave up the ghost on the way to hospital.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be butcher and that he has been out of job for some months now and the wife was taking advantage of that to disrespect him.
“Kasali explained further that on that fateful day, he was sitting down outside when the deceased came to accuse him of looking into the private part of a prostitute who sat at opposite direction and that was what led to the disagreement that resulted to the death of the deceased”.
Oyeyemi however, explained that the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the morgue of Ifo general hospital for post mortem investigation, while the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has also ordered that the case be transferred immediately to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.
