Bunmi Oke, Tunji Olugbodi Bag Advertising Personalities Of The Decade Awards
As all is set to award personalities in the integrated marketing communication industry for outstanding performance at the 2017 MARKETING EDGE Brands & Advertising Excellence Awards, renowned advertising practitioners, Bunmi Oke, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, 141Wordwide and Tunji Olugbodi, Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Group, have clinched this year’s Marketing Personality of the Decade awards while former managing Director of Guinness Cameroon, Ekwunife Okoli will be conferred with Lifetime Marketing Achievement.
Other categories and winners are Telecoms Brand Leadership Award- MTN, Outstanding Customer-Centric Telecoms Brand of the Year – Airtel, Innovative Telecom Brand of the Year- Etisalat, Outstanding Dairy Brand of the Year- Peak Milk, Outstanding Brand Re-Launch of the Year – Union Bank, Outstanding Cola Brand of the Decade- Coca- Cola and Media Advertising Personality of the Year- Emeka Okeke.
Organisers of the prestigious award, MARKETING EDGE, Nigeria’s leading brands and marketing publication, made the announcement as the event gathers momentum. The award holds on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the high profile Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Commenting on the award currently in its sixth year, Oke applauded the organisers for recognizing her with such a prestigious award after many years of hard work.
“I felt humbled by the award because it really has taught me a good lesson and also affirmed the saying that ‘if you work hard in secret, God will reward you in the open’. I see it as a divine gift because to be the Advertising Personality of the Decade is a great honour. I think that it is also authentic because obviously I have worked hard for over three decades. Also the award is a recognition and inspiration for the female business persons in the marketing communications industry”, she said.
Similarly, delighted Olubogbo also lauded the organizers for raising the bar of the marketing communication industry by awarding outstanding industry players. He said the recognition will challenge him to do more towards the growth of the industry.
Oke led a creative team of professionals over the years to build 141Worldwide into a prominent world-class advertising agency in Nigeria. Olugbodi, on his part, drove Verdant Zeal Group into being one of Africa’s largest marketing communications group.
It would be recalled that Udeme Ufot, Group Managing Director, SO&U Group, won the 2016 ‘Marketing Personality of the Decade’ award for his drive and leadership qualities in the industry.
Before the commencement of the award which holds in the evening, MARKETING EDGE National Marketing Stakeholders Summit will hold between 9am till 2pm same day. The summit will be chaired by marketing guru and Managing Partner of Market Space, Mr. George Thorpe while the Keynote Speaker and Special Guest of Honour is the Honourable Minister of Communication, Barrister Adebayo Shittu. The theme of the summit is “Brand Marketing and Marketing Management in a Recovering but Restructured Nigerian Economy: Challenges and Implications for Marketing Services Providers”.
