Bring Those Responsible For Anambra Church Massacre To Book, TUC Tells Police
The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Monday expressed shock at the killings of worshippers in St. Phillip’s Catholic Church, Ugwu Oye in Ozubulu, Anambra State by unknown gunmen, urging the security operatives to thoroughly investigate the dastardly act and bring the culprits to book.
This was contained in a statement signed by the President General of TUC, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama in Lagos.
According to the statement, Nigerians have had it rough in recent past making millions of people to take solace in their God by regularly attending worship places for encouragement and reassurance of a better tomorrow.
“We feel pained that people are not even also secure in churches and Mosques, where one could consider as sacred places. This invasion should be seen beyond a mere attack. It is one killing too many and therefore should be investigated. No stone should be left unturned.
“We must consider that the incident portrays the country in bad light before the international community. It is heartbreaking that some Nigerians no longer have regard for human life”, TUC said.
The Congress therefore called on government at all levels to focus on good governance and job creation as they remain the only way the country can get youths reasonably engaged.
TUC also implored the security operatives to carry out their investigations and bring the sponsors (if any) and perpetrators to face the music.
