Prison Boss Harps On Discipline, Professionalism
Acting Zonal Co-ordinator, Zone F Command, Nigerian Prisons Service, Kasali Yusuf , has charged prison officers to be disciplined and make professionalism their watchword in the discharge of their assigned duties.
A release made available to newsmen in Osogbo by ASP Olusola Adeotan, Osun State Command Public Relations Officer (CPRO) stated that Yusuf made the remark while addressing officers and men of Osun state command on his two-day familiarisation/inspection tour of prison formations in the command.
His words: “discipline should reflect in all our conducts as prison officers, We may lose control of our inmates, if unchecked. We must act in accordance with the dictate of prisons’ rules and regulations.”
He as well urged officers and men to be well versed in CAP P29(LFN),2004, Standing Orders, circulars and Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Offenders.
He commended the efforts of the Controller of Prisons, Mr Segun Oluwasemire. Ope Fatinikun and Mathew Ajagono, officers in-charge, Ilesa Prison and Medium Security Prison (MSP), Ile-Ife, respectively for the cleanliness of their prison environment and the cells.
Mr Yusuf also appreciated the initiative of the officer in-charge, Ilesa Prison for the establishment of a crech/nursery school within the Female wing. The facility is for the use of inmates’ children, and the project was executed through the assistance of religious bodies and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
While responding, the inmates were full of thanks, for the good works the department has been rendering to them, under the leadership of Controller General of Prisons (CGP), Ja’ afaru Ahmed.
In his response, the CP appreciated the ACG for his visit and promised that the officers and men of the command will adhere strictly to his instructions.
