BOI Disburses N3.5b To SMEs In Osun

The General Manager of Bank Of Industry (BOI) , Mr Olukayode Pitan, has disclosed that the bank has disbursed N3.5 Billion to industrialists in Osun just as Governor Rauf Aregbesola promised to create enabling environment for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SME) to flourish.

Pitan who spoke at a Business submit organized by his Bank in Osogbo, gave assurance that BOI would continue to disburse more fund adding that the challenges faced in accessing funds by SMEs would be looked into to create conducive atmosphere for easy accessibility to funds.

The General Manager who identified SME’s as the nucleus of Nigeria economy stressed the potency of BOI in not only providing funds to SME’s but promote training and workshop to those favourably disposed to further learning.

Pitan added that BOI would identify micro finance banks closer to SMEs by funding them in order to service SMEs.

Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola at the event reiterated his government’s commitment towards the creation of an enabling environment for the development of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) in the state.

Aregbesola who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Grace Titilaoye Tomori, said SMEs played key roles towards the growth and wealth of any developed nation.

He disclosed that government had also put in place a legal frame work to protect industrialists stressing the need for mutual understanding among stakeholders to solve the problems facing SMEs in the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Commerce, Investment and Industry , Mr Ismail Alagbada, lauded the Bank of Industry (BOI) for its support towards accelerating industrial growth in the state.

Alagbada said, that BOI had strengthened several SMEs since its establishment adding that government would not relent in its efforts to facilitate easy access to funds by SMEs.
