‘Armed Forces Day: We Are Committed To Welfare Of Our Hero’s Past’

Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello said his administration remains committed to the welfare of the families of the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation and humanity at large.

Governor Sani Bello stated this on Tuesday, at the 2019 Nigerian Armed Forces Rememberance Day Celebration and Wreath laying Ceremony in Minna, the state capital.

The Governor who said that the state government had always ensure it support the wives of the fallen heroes as well as their children said is administration would continue to support the families especially in the areas of empowerment in order to enable them become independent and self reliant.

“I just met with the widows and their chairperson told me about the hardship they face and she gave genuine concern. So we are going to give them more support especially in the area of empowerment as we usually do.

“We are going to capture and empower them so that they can take care of themselves and their children.

“We interface with the Legion and we usually meet with them at least twice a year and we try to see the areas we can support them.” He added.

He then assured the widows that the state government would do everything possible to ensure their empowerment so as to enable them cater for themselves.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the prayers for the soul of the departed, gun salute, the release of pigeons to signify peace in the country and wreath laying by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Marafa Guni and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers Alh. Abubakar Yahaya,represented by the Emire of Agaie, Alh. Yusuf Nuhu.

Commander, Nigerian Army Training, Doctorine Command (TRADOC), Major General Adeku Salihu, Commandore Nigeria Airforce, Air Commadore S.K Osmania, the Commissioner of Police, Paul Yakadi among others.
